on the "farm"

I spent the past weekend up at a friend's "farm". Here's the song I wrote:

there was a farmer who had a farm

E I E I Whoa

and to this farm I took my friends

E I E I Whoa

With a bud bud here, and a hippy over there
Here a plant, there a shroom, everywhere a bowl bowl

at the farm, we smoked on out

E I E I Whoa

the scene was beautiful at the farm

E I E I Whoa

we grabbed some shears, but not for yarn

E I E I Whoa

with a snip snip here, and a chaka brah there
here's a joint, there's some dirt, everywhere some beer beer

I have a friend, who has a farm

E I E I Whoa

fourty hippies at the farm

E I E I Whoa

Most of them support same sex marriage

E I E I Whoa

with some vegan food here, and sustainable living there
here we sit, here we snip, everywhere some larf larf

from this farm I earned some weed

E I E I Whoa

about one ounce I earned, I did

E I E I Whoa

with some music here, and 40 ipods there
here a dog, there a cat, everywhere a tent tent

I had tons of fun at the old farm

E I E I Whoa

Rite Spot, right time

Last night, J and I wanted to go out for a bit, and wanted to go somewhere new... so we looked online for awhile and dropped 4 going out ideas into a "hat" (we've since decided to keep a vessel of good going-out ideas so that when we are at a loss, we have it. Just pick a piece of paper from the "hat"). We ended up at Rite Spot Cafe. (Folsom at 17th)

This was my Yelp.com review of it:

This bar hit me just perfectly on a night when I wanted to go somewhere a bit "intimate", but not pretentious.

I expected to see a plethora of Mission Hipsters here and I was so pleasantly surprised... There was a pretty eclectic crowd.

And the Lee Vilenski trio was outstanding. They got us right away on a cover of Donovan's Summer Surprise. Good good stuff.

So the food is what I would expect in a nice bar/supper club in Iowa (my homeland).

Pre-packaged ripple oreda fries - cooked perfectly
chicken piccata - tasted pretty good, but also a bit slimey
fried ravioli - very good, and also cooked perfectly
burger - good, very greasy though (I think that was because of the added grilled onions)

All in all, a great trip out and I will definitely go there again to drink and have some cocktails. I might pass on the food though. But then again, if I were hungry, I'd probably eat there.

Cool people who do cool things

My friend and former classmate, Emily, has launched her new website, Crown-E. I'm so prowd of her for finally bringing her art to the masses. I bought one of the bags (Uncle) and it's ever-so-neat. I highly recommend checking her out.

My other friend, John (who is the most fabulous of colorists) is also really getting into his creative side... He's got a huge photo-shoot planned in December with 5 models and an excellent photograher who is flying in from Montreal for the shoot. I get to "assist", which means I'll sit around just watching in awe, no doubt.

Cool people doing cool things... gotta love it.

I'm over (it/whelmed/booked)

I think we all go through this from time to time... when you make way too many plans for a few weeks in a row and then you crash..

I've been crashing for awhile now. But instead of just canceling those things that I really can't handle, a new phenomenon is taking place - I somehow have been subconsciously writing plans into my calendar on the wrong days, then overbooking, and then what?

It's weird, and I'm sure some of my closest friends are wondering my all of a sudden I'm a flake. But I'm also okay with that. When you are the kind of person that rarely (if ever) flakes on anything, you just have to wear some flakey-ass pants for a bit.

MIA

I had an unfortunate blog run-in. I typed in a 10-stop review of my brewery tour, only to find out I deleted most of it when I posted it (heh, that rhymed).

It all snow-balls from there... I can't bare to type it in again, so I wait until I can. Then the next posts don't go up, because I want to do it all in chronological order and I'm convinced that I will someday re-type the whole brew tour thing.

I finally faced the fact that I just need to start anew and move on.

So here I am. I'm back. Watch out all 5 of you who might happen to read this once a month!
